Lewat albumnya Wednesday Morning, 3 AM (1966) Paul Simon dan Art Garfunkel menghadirkan lagu lembut namun memiliki arti yang mendalam. Ada artikel yang aku baca tentang bagaimana mereka kagum dengan sosok Bob Dylan namun bertekad tidak akan mengikuti karakter penyanyi tersebut yang melantunkan lagu-lagu protes sosial dan anti perang dengan lantang. Simon dan Garfunnkel bernyanyi dengan kelembutan dan agak melankoli. Beberapa artikel juga menyoroti history dari lagu ini yang mungkin karena perang Vietnam atau kematian John F Kennedy.
Ya ini lagu sudah berpuluh tahun yang lalu. Tapi ada lirik yang pas buat jaman sekarang 'And the people bowed and prayed to the neon god they made' seperti dewasa ini setiap orang seakan menyembah gadgetnya dan akhirnya 'People talking without speaking, People hearing without listening '.
Banyak yang cover lagu ini dan dibikin versi semelankolis mungkin, atau seperti di film Troll yang dicover dengan penuh semangat. Salah satu yang cover lagu ini adalah Monita, ya aku kasih linknya di bawah. Entah kenapa kalo denger jadi serem, mungkin karena suara duanya rekaman suara monita sendiri dan dikasih efek gitu. Well kalo lihat music videonya bikin aku jadi pingin naro hape dan say hi ke semua orang di dunia ini, menyebarkan positive thoughts supaya gak ada orang kesepian di dunia ini. Ya mungkin ada orang yang emang gak mau diganggu, yang suka sendiri, tapi seberapa lama sih?
